Delivery, Returns & Exchange Policy

 

DELIVERY

All of our current artists are based in the UK. We are able to offer a London collection service by appointment only from N15 4EG. If you wish to use this service, please select the “collection only” option during the online checkout process.
We currently deliver within the UK and Europe, with plans to offer worldwide shipping very soon. Each artwork is sent out directly by the artist, not by One Nine Eight Five, therefore a delivery charge is added per artwork purchased.

For works on paper, we offer a flat rate shipping service:
UK: £12
Europe: £25
USA: £29
Rest of the world: £35

All works on paper will be sent rolled, in a mailing tube. We encourage you to open your artwork and organise framing at your earliest convenience to avoid curling.

For both framed and unframed artworks, we offer a tiered flat rate shipping service:

Large Artworks

Please note that import duties and taxes are not included and you may be subject to paying these for international shipments. To read more about potential import duties when ordering for a delivery outside the UK please check out our section “Import Regulations and Duties’.

All artworks are sent via a signed-for courier service, typically using Royal Mail, UPS or DHL. If you prefer to arrange your own courier or would like an insured, crated art courier service, please email us for a quote before making your purchase. If you proceed with this option, the shipping costs will be invoiced separately and can be paid via bank transfer once you have purchased your artwork.
After placing your order, you will receive an order confirmation email followed by a dispatch confirmation once the artwork is on its way. Dispatch usually occurs within 3-7 working days after payment has cleared.
Please ensure someone is available to sign for the delivery. If all delivery attempts fail, the parcel will be returned to the artist, and additional charges for return and redelivery may apply.
While someone else can sign for your delivery, please note neither One Nine Eight Five nor the artist is responsible if the signature is not yours. In such cases, the delivery will be considered complete. Additionally, we cannot accept responsibility for failed deliveries if you instruct the courier to leave your package in a ‘safe place.’

 

Returns

We want you to love your new artwork as much as we do. To ensure this, if you have any questions before purchasing, we encourage you to reach out to us first. Please note that original artwork and commissions are non-refundable, and we cannot accept returns or cancellations for these items, whether ordered online, by email, or over the phone.

If you encounter an issue with your purchase or the artwork is not as described, please contact us immediately. We will work with the artist to either correct the fault or arrange an exchange. However, if the damage occurred during transit, we will assist with a claim against the courier but cannot be held liable for recovering costs.

Should a return be necessary, the artwork must be returned in its original packaging and in its original, unused condition. Items that are returned in less-than-original condition, show signs of wear beyond opening the packaging, or do not correspond with the described fault will not be eligible for a refund.

Return postage is initially at the customer’s expense. We recommend using a tracked service. Once the artist receives and inspects the returned artwork and agrees with the described fault, reasonable return postage costs will be reimbursed. We suggest using Royal Mail, UPS, or DHL services that include tracking and require a signature.

Refunds can only be issued to the original payment method and will be processed after the artwork has been received and approved by the artist. If a refund is refused, we’ll contact you to explain the reasons.

 

ARTIST COMMISSIONS

Lead times for commissions will vary depending on the Artist, and an estimated creation time will be provided when you enquire. We will confirm all relevant dates via email, but please note that these timelines may occasionally change due to unforeseen circumstances.

If you are commissioning an artwork to measurements you have supplied, you are responsible for ensuring that these measurements are correct.

All commissions in this category are non-refundable once creation has started. We reserve the right to decline requests. For further information, please contact us at [email protected].

 

CANCELLATION OF AN ORDER

To cancel an artwork purchase, please email us immediately with your name and order reference. This option is available only between the time of purchase and before you receive the artwork. If the artwork has already been dispatched, please follow our returns procedure. Bespoke orders and commissions are non-refundable once creation has started.

 

CANCELLATION BY US

In some cases, we may need to cancel an order, such as when an artwork is no longer available due to a sale elsewhere, the artist withdrawing the piece, payment issues, or an error with the piece itself. Should this happen, we will inform you and process a refund if payment has already been made.

 

Packaging

All works on paper will be sent rolled, in a mailing tube. We encourage you to open your order and organise framing at your earliest convenience to avoid curling.
Framed and unframed artworks are securely packaged in double-walled cardboard boxes.
Unless you opt for an insured, crated art courier service, we cannot take responsibility for damage during transit. In the unlikely event of damage, please let us know immediately. While we will assist you, any claims must be made directly with the courier.

 

Certificate of Authenticity

All the artwork on our platform is original and unique. Each piece comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from the artist for you to keep as you continue to grow your art collection, this is essential for future resale and valuation. The certificate includes the artwork’s title, the artist’s name, date of creation, dimensions, medium, and the artist’s signature.

 

ART IMAGERY AND THEIR DESCRIPTIONS

We strive to provide accurate descriptions and images for our art offering. We aim for precise colour representation, however slight variations may arise due to your device’s screen display of colour and the handmade nature of our Artists work. Lost Orders

If an order is delayed or lost due to an incorrect or incomplete address, or if no one is available to receive the order, we cannot accept liability. While we will assist in resolving the issue, we cannot be held responsible for the loss. Typically, we must wait 10 days from dispatch to begin this process.
